How to deaktivate surveillance modules in RedStar 3.0 Boot a Ubuntu Linux live CD on the PC containing RedStar as root. Open the terminal and write $ sudo su This vil log you in as root. type the following commands # nano /media/RedStar/etc/selinux/config Set the parameter SELINUX=disabled Save and exit nano. # cd /media/RedStar/lib/modules/2.6.38.8-24.rs3.0.i686/kernel/fs # mv rtscan.ko rtscan.off # cd /media/RedStar/lib/modules/2.6.38.8-24.rs3.0.i686.PAE/kernel/fs # mv rtscan.ko rtscan.off # cd /media/RedStar/tmp # mv AnGae.dat AnGae.off # reboot If AnGae.dat is missing you have to run the web browser inside RedStar to create the file. Log out and log in with the Ubuntu Live CD and rename the file. Take out the Ubuntu CD and boot RedStar Log in as root and activate the terminal. Use this command # /usr/bin/opprc If it return a message beginns with FATAL: Could not open, the surveillance is turned off. A little red flag in the upper right corner has also disappeard. The surveillance consists in watermarking all documents and media file on USB drives and hard drives with a tracking code used by North Korean authorities. It also automatically deletes files with content they dislike. Backdoors or phone home code on the system are not found so far.
